What aspects of village life do you find most enriching or meaningful?

Life here is simple, but full of substance. The hospitality of the people, the tranquility that nature offers and the history that Methoni carries make it special. Its Castle, standing proud for centuries now, the traditional cafes where the locals share stories, and the harbor with the colorful boats that sometimes bring fresh fish, make up the beauty of everyday life.

Do you have recommendations for visitors to truly experience the authentic charm of our village?

To feel the true soul of Methoni, one must walk through its narrow streets early in the morning, when the sunlight gently illuminates the old stone houses and the sea seems calm. A walk in the imposing castle, especially at sunset, is an experience that transports the visitor back in time. It is also worth trying local food, such as fresh fish and traditional Messinian recipes, in one of the restaurants by the sea.

An experience not to be missed is renting a boat from Methoni Boat Rentals & Cruises for a unique excursion to the enchanting islet of Sapienza! Escape to a paradise on earth of deep blue, crystal clear waters and wild natural beauty. Discover the historic stone lighthouse, wander the island's paths and enjoy a swim on secluded beaches where nature remains untouched. If you're lucky, you might even see the rare kri-kri or impressive remains of ancient shipwrecks! A trip to Sapienza isn't just a ride—it's an adventure filled with images you'll never forget! Finally, a dip in the crystal clear waters of Methoni beach or a little exploration in the surrounding areas, such as Finikounda and Pylos, will complete the experience in the most beautiful way.

Can you share a special memory or story that reflects the unique character of our community?

I remember the summer festivals in the square, where everyone – locals and visitors – would become one big group. Musicians played traditional songs until dawn, and the atmosphere was full of joy and hospitality.

If you could turn back time, would you do anything differently in your life?

I might have traveled a little more, but Methoni will always be my home. I wouldn't change my life here.
