What aspects of village life do you find most enriching or meaningful?
Life here is different. Time passes slowly and there is no stress. We are "forced" to live in nature and in the fresh air. We enjoy wonderful seas, amazing sunsets and stress-free family moments! Talking to the people here you will "love" our life and you will understand how different we are who live in the village. The people here are friendly, kind, warm and always ready to help. Wherever you go you will find someone to talk to, to share a moment with! The distances here are very short even if you want to go to the next village it is only 12 kilometers and the time around 10 minutes maybe even less!!
Do you have recommendations for visitors to truly experience the authentic charm of our village?
The proposals can be many and different: lovers of walks can enjoy endless walks admiring wonderful landscapes combining cultural and historical pursuits!! Food lovers can enjoy fantastic flavors with an incredible view! Our visitors could still visit the Kapodistrian School - it was one of the first co-educational schools to be rebuilt in the free Greek state.
Can you share a special memory or story that reflects the unique character of our community?
For me, one of the most special moments in Methoni is my first participation in the Carnival of Methoni, in the well-known "WEDDING OF THE KOUTROULI". It was a fantastic 3 days full of celebration, joy, dancing and great moments with friends and my people! It's worth living!!
If you could turn back time, would you do anything differently in your life?
Whatever we do at a given moment in our life, we do it believing that it is the right thing for us. In any case we act according to what we know at the time. As life passes and we grow older, we may learn something that turns some things upside down and regret something we did!! If I could go back in time and act again under the same circumstances then I would make sure to live more moments with the people I love (some left early and I couldn't get enough of them). I would work less. I would travel more. I would appreciate from an early age the saying, "THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS IN LIFE ARE NOT THINGS"
